Just did this fun little experiment of drawing one john and colouring him differently : D
All of them are drawn with Paint Tool SAI

1. simple flat colouring. I rarely colour like that but this is the base for all of my work. And I use it when I need to have things done really quick.

2. soft shading. This one takes really long.. it's my most defined style which I don't often have the time to use..

3. lineartless. This does not only take long, this takes forever ;A; other than that it's similar to my soft shading.. just more difficult because the lines don't hide colour spots that are wobbly..XD

4. Style for my Cloud 69 comic. Warm soft colours. Light lineart for warmer feel too. Only skin is shaded properly, hair a little and the rest isn't shaded at all. (because gif hates too much different colours I had to choose. And in this comic skin is an obvious choice I suppose.. XD )

5. Style for my Still the Same comic. Colours that appear colder. Low saturation. Grey lineart to make it slightly less hard than black. Only hair has gradation. Backgrounds have very little shading and never gradation. Again because of the animated gif. (It only has 256 colours).

6. animation colouring style.
This is also a rather simple style with a bit more saturation than I usually have. Except for the hair.. it's totally gray but has shading. No real reason it just happenedXD black lines because the animation I'm working on has dark backgrounds.
